#GritInYourTeeth - Winds Sweeping Down the Plains!

Usually you can see trees in the horizon; not today.

Fuel economy was great driving 30 miles to church - 40mpg in a full size Ford SUV. Imagine using only 3/4's of a gallon of gas.  The winds gusted up to 60mph or better today. There were wind and dirt storm warnings out again for the day. If it did try to rain it probably blew somewhere else.
The dirt blew so hard it could sand blast the paint off of your car. Visibility was 0% in a few areas which makes it very dangerous for those driving through the Panhandle.

The preacher talked about praying and the wait.  Waiting is very hard and continues to be hard as there has been no rain for the pastures for few years now.

Dirt gets in everywhere; your house, your car, your clothes, your ears, hair, nostrils, and eyes.  It is like a horrible, horrible monster seeping in everywhere. You sometimes wish you could breathe like a camel to keep the dirt out of your nose.

Can you imagine what it was like during the Dust Bowl days?  Thank goodness most of the ground is either CRP, pasture, or irrigated farmland.  Otherwise, it would be like a Sahara sand storm today.

Yesterday is gone. Today is today. Tomorrow will be tomorrow.
